What to do ? How to do it? These are so many questions that we ask ourselves in the Church and in the Congregation.
Indeed, our Province has set out again towards the peripheries to meet young people, to be close to them, and to help them discern their vocation.
It has been three years since the Saint Benedict community of Ouagadougou initiated the Decision Camp. The goal of this camp is both to support a culture of vocations which allows our young people to discover their path to holiness and also to allow them to discern their call to consecrated life according to the charism of the Assumption.
The camp took place from August 8 to 16, 2023 to allow them to experience the Feast of the Assumption with us.
This year, we welcomed eleven (11) young people from different parishes of the archdiocese. Among them, there was Louise Catherine, a postulant who made herself available to accompany her young sisters. Her presence was a source of encouragement to others. They had training time from 08 to 11 and three days of retreat from 12 to 14. With the possibility of support.
On August 14 evening, space was given to the girls to share their experience with us. We were amazed by their rich and profound sharing. We lived the Feast of the Assumption with them creatively. With joy they led a procession with the statue of the Virgin to the chapel for the Vigil. The repositioning of the Blessed Sacrament inculturated with a song in Moré, one of the languages of Burkina.
On the evening of August 15, we had an on-site outing, it was a relaxing time. After Vespers we ended the camp with a recreational evening. All expressed their joy and gratitude to the community and the entire congregation for these beautiful human and spiritual experiences. Their joy increases our hope and gives us the zeal to move forward in this pastoral Vocations Ministry.
