On August 27th, a luminous day for the Assumption of Tenerife, three sisters—Asunción Pellitero, Alma, and Venantie—arrived to establish the new international community at the service of migration. It is the beginning of a journey and a challenge for the Assumption! A fraternal welcome took place at the airport and at the house of La Alegría, with the Santa Cruz community and Fali, a lay member of the Assumption.
The Santa Cruz community prepared this welcome, which culminated in the feast of Saint Augustine, in his spirit of fraternity.
The first Vespers on the 27th gathered thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. A fraternal dinner concluded this first moment of welcome.
On August 28th, we gathered for Lauds, followed by a festive breakfast.
The Eucharist, celebrated in the community residence and presided over by a Carmelite father, reminded us that without love, nothing has value. A celebration rich in symbols: the blessing of the three sisters, asking to always seek God’s will. Some remembered the call to “abandon oneself” by the celebrant of Cuestablanca. Ana Mary also received her mission, as she left that same afternoon for Rwanda.
A full day: from Mass to table, followed by a city walk, admiring the sea view, the mountain landscape, and the new nature.
The exposition, the Vespers, and dinner closed the day.
The tone of thanksgiving was shared by all, remembering Rekha and the General Council, as well as Lola and her Council, who made possible this foundation, presented and approved by the General Chapter 2024. The gong, a gift from the General Chapter, will mark the rhythm of their prayer and insertion.
