APOSTOLIC VISIT OF POPE FRANCIS TO MADAGASCAR SEPTEMBER 6th to 10th
We are pleased to share with you the graces received during Pope Francis visit to Madagascar.
First of all, we thank God for giving us this time full of grace, joy and hope. During Pope Francis visit to Madagascar, we highlight two things: First, Pope Francis, sower of peace and hope. Secondly, the deepening of the Faith based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pope Francis came to encourage us and nourish our faith. He transmitted the messages for the people: he invites us to be men and women of faith and hope so that we may have the audacity to proclaim the Gospel to the whole world.
This visit has been shaped by the communion and unity of the people through the participation of everyone (restoration of the reception area, equipment, security, etc.). According to the program: on September 7th, the Holy Father was received at the State Palace of Iavoloha by President Andry Rajoelina. It was a private meeting between the Pope and the presidential family. Subsequently, he met with the authorities, civil society and the diplomatic corps at the Construction Ceremony in Iavoloha. In the afternoon, a meeting of the Pope with the Bishops of Madagascar took place at 16:00 in Andohalo Cathedral, followed by a visit to the tomb of Blessed Victoria Rasoamanarivo at 17:10. At 6:00 p.m., vigil with the young people at the Diocesan Dominion of Soamandrakizay. On Sunday, September 8th, Pope Francis celebrated Holy Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Diocesan Dominion of Soamandrakizay. In the afternoon, at 3:10 p.m., he went to Father Peter's Akamasoa Village for the Salvation of the Holy Father. He thanked him for his prophetic witness full of hope among the poorest.
Then the Pope went to St. Michael's College to meet with priests, religious, consecrated men and women, and seminarians.
On Monday, September 9th, the Holy Father left Ivato International Airport to visit Port Louis. He was back in Ivato the same day at 8:00 p.m. The next day, Tuesday, September 10th, he left Malagasy soil at 9:20 a.m. to go to Rome. The messages of Pope Francis:
To priests, religious, consecrated persons, seminarians.
This meeting at the College of Saint Michael of Antananarivo was marked by two testimonies: one of the President of the Conference of Religious of Madagascar and the other of a priest of the Diocese of Miarinarivo. Both expressed their gratitude and dedication to the Holy Father, before adding a few words on the current challenges of the mission in Madagascar. "Remain in the heart of the Lord and in the hearts of the people".
"Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, I proclaim your praise: because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children" (Lk 10:21): this is the verse that guided all the reflection proposed by the Pope. In his speech he invites us to live the 3 Ps :
Prayer Poverty Patience
Pope Francis added the love of the poorest and the handicapped. He also invited them to go out of themselves to the outskirts to serve life and "remain in the heart of the Lord and in the hearts of the people. He also encouraged them to live our mission with joy and "in the name of the Lord". To a certain extent, much of our missionary life, of joy and missionary fruitfulness, is manifested in the invitation to the praise of Jesus. He confirmed that we are women and men of praise. Consecrated persons have the capacity to recognize and indicate the presence of God wherever they may be.
Pope Francis message on Laudato si: He appealed for the protection and care of the environment.
The fruits of Pope Francis visit
We found that everyone had joy, peace, hope, unity, communion, awakening of the spirit, solidarity, mutual help, friendship, fraternity.
