East Africa Province: A thrilling celebration!!!

E eventWednesday, 03 July 2024

Saint Marie Eugenie Day, the Feast that is celebrated every 10th March, is indeed a much awaited occasion in our school, Sangiti Secondary School. It is one of the times of the year that we gather together as a family of Sangiti to thank God for the Assumption education, gift life and values of   Saint Marie Eugenie.

We have different types of days in our lives, some are ordinary while others are special. This year 2024 the day was celebrated in a very creative. The Eucharistic celebration was led by Monsignor Fr. Faustine Mushi, our Parish Priest. He emphasized on the quotation of Marie Eugenie, “All is from Jesus Christ, All belongs to Jesus Christ, All must be for Jesus Christ”. He invited us to imitate Saint Marie Eugenie, the woman of faith who took Jesus to be everything for her. The students were reminded that they have goals to achieve and ambitions to aim for; and like St. Marie Eugenie their model and Patroness, Christ has to be “ALL” in everything that they have to do. To let a Christian vision guide them in all their actions.

After the inspiring and awakening Eucharistic celebration, the Form Ones, who were only five months in the school, entertained us with their songs and poems about the life of Marie Eugenie and transformative education in a very passionate way. The room was filled with applause of cheers, clapping, appreciation and gratitude that they were already in the spirit of the Church, St. Marie Eugenie and transformative education. They were full of confidence and convinced of the message they were giving to us. This brought us back to St. Marie Eugenie’s life experience, which awakened something in each one of us, for we were all full of admiration and wonder. We took a moment to reflect upon our own life experiences, thinking of our differences and comparisons with those of St. Marie Eugenie.

Then, all of us full of excitement and joy, proceeded to the school playground where we gathered as a family of Sangiti for competitive matches between the students and the staff members. This was the day that the Lord had made for everyone was looking forward to, the day to indulge ourselves in physical activities and sports, a time to break from the daily class routine. We had two matches, netball and football. What made the day so special was the match between the staff and the boy students. You could see the commitment and desire to win .Everybody cheered and supported their team. The cheering groups of both sides played their role well. The winners of the match were the teachers though every one of us received a reward; something to cheer us up. This event took almost two hours to finish, but we felt it happened in a flash of seconds.

How good it was to be together as a family of Sangiti Community. It is an unforgettable experience whereby there was the discovery of talents. Everyone was full of confidence and strength. The spirit of Saint Marie Eugenie was fully with us for we enjoyed it to the fullest. Now we move forward because, “beyond the horizon, the world awaits us”.
