"GOING TO THE SOURCES TO BE SOURCES"

ANNUAL RETREAT OF THE PROVINCE OF MEXICO

WITH SR. VERONIQUE FROM OCTOBER 4 TO 11, 2021

Thanks to technology, we were all able, while remaining in each of our Communities, to profit and renew ourselves interiorly during 8 days, listening to Sr. Veronique, who had prepared for us a series of Gospel texts, Letters and Chapters of Mother Marie Eugenie on our spirituality and our identity as Religious of the Assumption. Each afternoon, we also had a workshop entitled "Tips for Prayer".

We touched on essential themes such as love of Jesus Christ, love of the Congregation, the Incarnation, silence, adoration, joy, joyful detachment, fraternal life, etc. During the afternoon workshops: the seasons of life, praying with the world, the mission of education, etc.

3 sisters from the Province of Central America-Cuba, 1 Sister from Ecuador, 1 from the South Atlantic Province and 1 Orante Sister of the Assumption based in Puebla, also joined us.

Lola Castro, our Provincial, the local Superiors and Father Alvaro Olivares also helped Sr. Veronique in accompanying us during the retreat. During the daily Eucharist, there was a possibility to share what we had received daily from the Lord.

For all of us, the experience was rich and nourishing for our lives. We felt that Marie Eugenie was alive, close, very human, and spoke to us with simplicity about the things of daily life that are essential for our journey in following Jesus.

After the retreat, Sr. Veronique spent four more days with us, from October 12 to 15. She invited the laity who collaborate in our works and the groups of "Assumption Together" to drink from this same source, with themes such as: "The Incarnation and the Kingdom according to Mother Marie Eugenie", Mother Marie Eugenie’s path of inner peace in in times of difficulties and crises, etc.

The last day brought the Sisters together again during which we shared on the retreat decisions while focusing on how our Foundress lived them out.

For all of us, laity and Sisters, it was an immense grace to be able to drink from this source that has made fruitful our Assumption and our present reality which is also marked by difficulties. At the same time, it has increased our thirst to continue to deepen the riches of our charism through the writings of Saint Marie Eugenie.

Thank you very much, Veronique, and also to Sr. Rekha and the Community of Auteuil who made possible the time and space for us to have this spiritual experience.

With great fraternal affection,

The Province of Mexico
