Lay commitment in Chad

L eventSunday, 17 November 2024

On the afternoon of Wednesday 12 April 2023, in the parish of Saints Félicité and Perpétue d'Atrone 2 in N'Djamena, a Eucharistic celebration took place for two major reasons that are new in the history of the Assumption in Chad. The first was a thanksgiving for two young Chadian sisters, Eugénie Marie de la Croix and Christine de Jésus Sauveur, who had returned from Rwanda after two years of formation, culminating in their first vows on the feast of Saint Marie Eugénie on 10 March 2023 in Butare/Rwanda.  Then, for the first time in Chad, the commitment of three (3) lay people, Hyacinthe DJASBEYE, Mr Benjamin DANANNOU and Mr Alexis LOUGUENANG , members of the Fraternité d'Atrone 2. The mass was presided over by the parish priest, Mgr KARAMBA Alphonse, assisted by three other priests who had come from other parishes for the occasion. The celebration was marked by a number of highlights: the rite of commitment for the laity, which took place in a number of stages. The call to each lay candidate by Sister Provincial Marthe NTUYUMVE, the dialogue between the lay person and the sister and then the issuing of the commitment. Afterwards, each lay candidate received a cross that they will carry for the rest of their lives, as well as the booklet of the WAY OF LIFE. Afterwards, all the members of Assumption-Together (sisters and lay people) said a common prayer. Cries of joy erupted from the assembly, which included some members of the families of the two young sisters, committed lay people and friends of the Community of Religious of the Assumption. A kiss of peace accompanied by words of congratulations and encouragement brought this part of the Eucharist to a close.

Before the end of the Eucharist, the young sisters and the committed lay people expressed their gratitude to God for the grace of their respective commitments and their gratitude to the various people who had accompanied them and who would continue to support them in the future. The superior and the celebrant also offered words of encouragement and congratulations. The evening was marked by a festive meal, during which parents and friends spontaneously gave strong and sometimes moving testimonials. Joy shone from every face. The evening ended with a blessing from the parish priest.

LONG LIVE THE ASSUMPTION! LONG LIVE THE ASSUMPTION TOGETHER IN CHAD!
