Preparation of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR)

P eventWednesday, 03 July 2024

The Migrants and Refugees Section is pleased to bring you the next step forward in our common journey towards the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) which will be celebrated on Sunday, 26 September.

The theme chosen by the Holy Father for WDMR 2021 is Towards an ever wider "we". In response to his call to ensure that “after all this, we will think no longer in terms of ‘them’ and ‘those’, but only ‘us’”, we are sending you some materials to help build this "we" together.

In his new video, the Holy Father invites every baptized person to feel part of a single Church, a single home, a single family. The video contains the personal testimony of migrants who feel part of this “we”. Their experience of being welcomed in a parish shows that the dream of Pope Francis can be realized.

The video and the material of the first month of the campaign, available at the link below, can be downloaded, published, used and shared freely : DOWNLOAD THE MATERIAL

In the months leading up to 26 September, the Migrants and Refugees Section is happy to receive written or multimedia stories, videos and photographs from local churches and other Catholic institutions whose pastoral care for the most vulnerable demonstrates their shared commitment “towards an ever wider ‘we’.” Materials can be sent to: media @ migrants-refugees.va
