15 August, the day of the Assumption: the first vows of Sister Bénédicte and Sister Lama

On the feast of the Assumption, 15 August, the Religious of the Assumption of the Province of Central Africa had the joy of celebrating the Mass of first vows of Sister Bénédicte and Sister Lama, in the chapel of the Lemba community (Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo).

During this Eucharist, presided over by Fr Bertrand, a Jesuit, the two novices pronounced their temporary vows for three years in our Congregation. In a spirit of faith, they placed themselves in the hands of God and of their communities, promising to live poverty, chastity and obedience.

Bafoussam: professionalising teaching to better transform society

From 24 to 27 August 2026, the Assumption Polyvalent College of Bafoussam (Cameroon) held a capacity-building session on the theme: "Professionalising teaching: a major challenge for more effective academic results." Organised on the eve of the 2026–2027 school year, this gathering was of the utmost importance.

For four days, the teachers were trained in the art of properly designing, conducting and evaluating a teaching activity. Beyond theory, the emphasis was placed on classroom practice, time management, differentiation and competency-based assessment.

The chosen theme challenges us: we can no longer teach as we did yesterday to the students of today. Professionalisation is not an option but a requirement, in order to improve our results in a lasting way and to remain faithful to our Assumption charism: to form the intelligence and the heart in order to transform society.

Highlights of the session:

  • active participation;
  • practical content, adapted to the realities of the classroom;
  • a strengthened spirit of family and collaboration.
