Nestled in the quiet, verdant village of Antonykkad in Thelpara, Assumption Public Nestled in the quiet, verdant village of Antonykkad in Thelpara, Assumption Public School stands as a beacon of learning where education and the natural beauty of Kerala grow hand in hand. The journey to the school is a scenic transition from the bustling town, winding through six kilometres of serene rubber plantations.
Thelpara and the surrounding areas are inhabited by hardworking people. Most residents own small plots of land — ranging from half an acre to two acres — while many earn their livelihood as rubber tappers in nearby plantations. Regardless of their financial background, the families of Thelpara share a unified, powerful vision: they believe that education is the ultimate key to success. Consequently, after completing their schooling here, students confidently step into professional studies to secure their futures.
Assumption Public School began its journey in 2012 with a modest setup. In its initial stage, the school operated out of just two rooms in the sisters' residence, with the courtyard serving as the children's playground. Over time, a beautiful, modern school building arose, providing the children with a dedicated space to thrive.
Away from the noise of the town, the school offers a warm, family-like atmosphere. For the students, it is not just a place for academic study, but a sanctuary for relaxation, enjoyment and personal growth. Through a variety of vibrant year-round programmes, the school expands its students' horizons and connects them to the wider world.
St. Marie Eugénie is the patron saint of Assumption Public School.
The feast of St. Marie Eugénie is celebrated with nine days of Novena and ends with cultural programmes related to her life — such as skits, singing competitions about Marie Eugénie, and drawing and painting pictures of Mother Marie Eugénie and her life. 10 March is a day of celebration for Assumption Public School.
The core vision of Assumption Public School is to create a society transformed by quality education, based on the principles of equality, justice, love and truth. By focusing on the holistic formation of each individual's personality, this educational mission aims at bringing lasting, positive change to local families and society at large.
Sr. Celine Puthettu R.A. was the first principal of this school in its initial stages. She was followed by Sr. Sheela Jose R.A. until 2025. During Sr. Sheela Jose's time, Assumption Public School obtained affiliation to the CBSE.
Leading this mission since June 2025 is the principal, Sr. Susan R.A. Known for her active and creative leadership, Sr. Susan guides the faculty in adopting innovative teaching methodologies. She leads a team of deeply committed teachers who are always eager to learn, take initiative and embrace new educational strategies. To ensure students understand and absorb concepts quickly, the faculty uses smart boards, balancing academic excellence with dedicated social care.
The academic year is punctuated by vibrant events that bring the school community together.
The school takes part in International Yoga Day with the whole nation on 21 June. Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that connects the body, mind and soul through breathing exercises and meditation. In our school, Yoga Day begins with prayer, followed by a common yoga practice on the grounds.
The impact of Assumption Public School reaches far beyond the classroom walls:
Through this blend of modern academics, cultural celebration and community values, Assumption Public School continues to nurture the future leaders of Kerala.
