Our Social Mission: Becoming Forest Planters
Third-grade primary school students have temporarily become forest planters as part of an educational project. They participated in motivational sessions where they learned fascinating facts about forests, the vital role of trees for all living beings, and the work of forest planters. Then, they got to work.
In their Art class, they unleashed their creativity by making a mobile out of cardboard featuring a fully detailed holm oak tree—its trunk, leaves, acorns, and even squirrels enjoying its fruits! The project was also explored in Language class, integrating environmental awareness into different subjects. A dynamic and engaging way to learn!
The school is fortunate to have a nursery with beautiful plants. The students repurposed recycled milk cartons as pots to plant native species like holm oaks and sessile oaks. They also used yogurt cups to germinate ash tree seeds, which will later be transplanted. Lastly, they created an elm tree seedbed using seeds collected last spring from the elms on the school grounds. A big thank you to all the families for contributing by recycling materials that were transformed into plant pots!
To conclude this initiative, we will take the young trees on a family excursion to Casa de Campo, where we will donate them to an organization dedicated to reforestation.
