Province of West Africa: Welcoming, integrating and forming the community dimension in the work of education at the Assumption!

P eventThursday, 28 March 2024

Dear friends from here and elsewhere, we share with you the welcome of the new students, sisters and educators who arrived this school year 2021-2022 at the Collège Sainte Monique in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, run by the Religious of the Assumption.

The human being is both unique and essentially social and communal. And so that each actor in education feels responsible and takes an active part in this transformative education, sisters and laity find it important to reserve a significant welcome for all those who arrive for the first time at the College, so that together we cultivate the family spirit dear to the Assumption.

The sense of community develops a disposition to dialogue, openness and listening to others. It was therefore with great joy that the alumni (students and educational team) offered the water of welcome on Wednesday 13 October 2021, preceded by the greeting of each one in his or her mother tongue and in the official languages (English, German and French).  After the water of welcome and the greeting, our elder sister Myriam Laetitia, on behalf of the director, took the floor to invite the newcomers (teachers, sisters and students) to take their place in the educational work and in the new family that we are forming within the College. "Take your place and play your role fully as teachers, educators and students...".

A performance of dance and poems created an atmosphere of joy and merriment on the afternoon of 13 October 2021.

In our work of transformative education, we help young people to discover a meaning to their lives and to commit themselves to the transformation of society with all that they are and have.
