The Holy Saturday: The eucharist, the misssion of the transforming world

T eventMonday, 01 June 2026

Holy Thursday truly sets the tone for the Sacred Triduum; it is the doorway into the deepest mysteries of our faith. On this day, Jesus gathers His disciples for the Last Supper, instituting the Eucharist as the perpetual source of communion with God and with one another. It is a day that radiates humility, unity, love, and obedience, as Christ washes the feet of His disciples. In this way He teaches us true acts of humility and service to those surrounding us.

On this day Jesus said to his disciples “love one another as I have loved you” in John 13:34-35

Jesus calls his followers to live the mysteries of the Eucharist not only as a sacrament but as a way of life. What we celebrate at the altar must overflow into service, becoming signs of God’s love, His presence, and His hope for the world. In particular, Holy Thursday reminds us that true communion with the Lord is inseparable from reaching out to the needy, the abandoned, and those on the margins of life.

He also said to his disciples “Do this in memory of me” Luke 22:19-20

In the table of communion Jesus called his own, he gathered them, he taught them love, service, self-sacrifice. On Holy Thursday We are gathered in Christ the center of our life. He who sacrifices himself for us and gave up his life as a ransom for many to gather together the scattered children of God. He instituted the Eucharist as a sign of Unity and communion, calling us to carry out these mysteries daily in his remembrance.

Each time we gather in table of the Word and the Bread, we are drawn into the Paschal Mystery of Christ, entering into the realities of life and the mysteries of transformation in which Jesus remains and walks with us. In serving others, we bring joy and comfort, allowing them to experience God’s loving presence, and through this witness of service, we become agents of change and signs of hope to others.

The daily reception of the Eucharist grants us special grace that transforms our hearts to become what we receive, strengthening our faith, enlightening our hope, and manifesting our love for God through service to humanity.

As the Triduum begins, it calls us to walk with Christ into His Passion, Death, and Resurrection. The Eucharist strengthens us to carry His love into the world, to lighten the burdens of those who suffer through acts of service; thus we become agents of transformation in the lives of others.

As we enter deeply into these mysteries, let Holy Thursday begin—with hearts open to the mystery of love that humbles itself, serves others, and unites us eternally with the Father.
