The Religious of the Assumption open this year an international community at the service of migrants

This past Tuesday, September 16, was a deeply meaningful day for the Religious of the Assumption. The congregation held a day of celebration at the house in the La Alegría neighborhood, with the presence of Sister Rekha Chennattu, Superior General; Sister Dolores María, Provincial of Spain; members of the Santa Cruz community; as well as a group of lay people and friends. The Eucharist was presided over by Bishop Eloy Santiago of Nivariense.

As the fruit of communal discernment, the congregation is opening this academic year with a new international community dedicated to serving our migrant brothers and sisters.

Bishop Santiago invited the sisters to build this new project upon solid rock, blessed them, and sent them forth on mission in the name of the Church.

The new international community is composed of the following sisters:

• Asunción, from the Province of Spain;
• Alma, from the Province of Europe;
• Venantie, from the Rwanda-Chad Province;
• Ángeles, from the Ecuador-Mexico Province;
• and Grace, from the Province of India, who has not yet arrived on the island.
