West Africa Province: A Wave of Solidarity at the Sainte Marie-Eugénie School Complex in Ouagadougou

W eventWednesday, 15 July 2026

True to its mission of human and spiritual education, the Sainte Marie-Eugénie School Complex demonstrated its concrete solidarity with vulnerable populations.

Indeed, on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, a delegation from the school travelled to the site of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Nagréongo-Kudgo, a locality situated a few hundred kilometres from the Burkinabé capital. This initiative of great social significance aimed to bring both material and moral comfort to our brothers and sisters affected by the humanitarian crisis caused by insecurity.

This visit to the displaced persons was entirely coordinated by the Complex's pastoral care office, under the responsibility of Sister Sylvia Compaoré. Thanks to the remarkable mobilization of students, parents and staff of the school, a significant collection made it possible to gather diverse and essential donations. The donations brought to the site consisted of basic necessities, namely: food and soap for hygiene and daily subsistence; numerous batches of clothing and shoes; and sweets and biscuits that brought broad smiles to the many children at the site. Moments of sharing and intense emotion! Beyond the material handing-over of donations, the day was marked by moments of deep exchange and listening.

Sister Sylvia and her companions took the time to listen and commune with the families welcomed at the site. The children's laughter as they received treats brought a glimmer of joy amid daily hardships.

The beneficiaries, through their representative, expressed their deep gratitude to the Sainte Marie-Eugénie School Complex for this warm gesture that eases their suffering and reminds them that they are not forgotten. Through this inspiring action, the Complex reaffirms its commitment to forming caring citizens, aware of the realities of their country and resolutely turned toward their neighbour.

Our young people from the Complex experienced a true immersion, which allowed them to know the reality from within and to be challenged by what is good to do, and to become aware that life is not always easy for everyone. It was also an occasion for our young people to be touched by the reality of the poor, as Sainte Marie-Eugénie and her mother did when visiting the poor around Preisch. May our young people become builders of a more humane society, more just and more united! That is our great wish!
