XXIII UISG Plenary Assembly: “Consecrated Life: A Hope that Transforms”

X eventWednesday, 21 May 2025

From May 5 to 9, 2025, Rome will host the XXIII Plenary Assembly of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG), a gathering of leaders of women’s religious congregations from around the world. Under the theme “Consecrated Life: A Hope that Transforms”, the assembly aims to reflect on the role of consecrated life as a source of hope and transformation in a world marked by challenges and divisions.

The assembly’s logo represents people—especially religious sisters—being transformed by hope, symbolized as small flames illuminating humanity. The colors evoke the universality and diversity of charisms and gifts that religious women bring to the Church and their communities, enriching the Body of Christ through their commitment.

Throughout the assembly, sisters share testimonies of living hope in challenging contexts. For example, Sister Lisa Buscher shares her experience working with migrants on the U.S.-Mexico border, showing how hope can emerge even in situations of suffering and displacement.

The assembly uses the methodology of “Conversation in the Spirit,” which promotes deep listening and sincere dialogue among participants. This approach creates a sacred space for diverse perspectives to converge, fostering a deeper understanding of the collective voice of consecrated life and encouraging collaboration among congregations.
