Discover the story of a transformative experience for young leaders and change-makers.
1. A powerful opening: integral ecology (July 7–8)
The Assumption Family gathered in Paris, with over 120 participants online, to launch their reflection under the theme: “A world of beings sharing our common home”. The opening was marked by the spirituality of Saint Marie Eugenie and a strong focus on integral ecology, as promoted by Pope Francis — linking the human, political, environmental and spiritual dimensions. Elena Lasida gave an inspiring talk, highlighting the world’s fragility and the need to cultivate generosity, interdependence, and ecological responsibility to help it flourish.
2. Justice, peace and action (July 9)
The second day delved into integral ecology as a driver of social transformation. Sister Mamaalifar Poreku gave a powerful call to “listen to the cry of the poor” and to commit politically, socially, spiritually and ecologically. Personal testimonies of daily life demonstrated that real change begins both in deep conviction and in tangible action.
3. Migration and climate change (July 11)
Wednesday’s focus was on the impact of climate change on human mobility, explored through the complementary perspectives of spiritual guide Jundelle Jalique and Father Baudouin Ngoa Ya Tshihemba. The message was clear: “No one is safe when our common home is in ruins”. Gaia Mormina shared an inspiring initiative to support migrants in Mexico, reminding us that caring for the Earth and for displaced people is part of the same mission.
4. A prophetic vocation in the face of crisis (July 10)
On Thursday, in the Jardin de Grenelle, a special Eucharist for Creation was celebrated. Philosopher Cécile Renouard presented the threefold vocation of priest, prophet and king: to pray, denounce injustice, and care for the Earth like a loving gardener. She invited participants to cross six “thresholds” toward a fulfilling life: from shared diagnosis to collective action, including self-awareness, dialogue, mutual listening and co-governance.
5. A united conclusion: JPIC orientations (July 14)
The session closed with a panel of representatives from the various congregations, who presented concrete orientations to implement the JPIC commitments made during the 2022–2024 general chapter. One key priority emerged: the issue of migration, addressed both in structural terms and through immediate human realities.
This #JPIC session was not merely a space for reflection, but an urgent call to action — from daily practices to the transformation of social structures. The narrative it promotes — see, judge, act — is not a series of theoretical modules, but a genuine invitation to empower the youth of the Assumption and of the world.
