In Mahazoarivo, a rural commune in southeastern Madagascar, the Religieuses de l’Assomption opened a new community in August 2024, responding to the request of the Bishop of the Diocese of Farafangana, who entrusted them with the management of Saint Michel College.
Most of the local population lives in poverty, and the school buildings are currently temporary structures made with local materials. The lack of proper school furniture makes teaching difficult: many students sit on the floor, and boards to make furniture are expensive.
The project aims to purchase 100 desk-benches, 20 cabinets, and 20 teacher desks. This investment will provide dignified and safe learning conditions, supporting the educational mission of the Religieuses de l’Assomption and improving students’ learning experiences.
Properly equipping the school will allow students to learn more comfortably and effectively, fostering their academic and personal development. It will also strengthen the nuns’ educational work and provide quality education in a vulnerable setting, offering better future opportunities for the entire community.
Total cost: €6,000
