In November 2025, Belém do Pará, in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, hosts COP30, one of the most symbolic climate gatherings of our time. The world reflects on its future from within the largest tropical forest, a place where life pulses with strength and where a deep ecological wound becomes visible.
Holding COP30 in Belém sends a clear message: we cannot talk about climate without listening to the territory that sustains the planet’s balance. Deforestation, extractive pressure, and the vulnerability of Amazonian peoples confront us with a truth we often avoid: the forest can no longer bear empty promises.
Stop deforestation before 2030, with binding policies and real protection of Indigenous lands.
Accelerate the energy transition, moving beyond models that sacrifice the forest for short-term gains.
Guarantee fair climate financing, which reaches the communities who truly protect life in the region.
The Amazon is not only a biome; it is a profound symbol of relationship, fragility, and hope. There, creation reminds us that we are not owners of the planet but guests. Belém summons us to a deep conversion: to care for our Common Home and for all who live in it.
COP30 demands courageous decisions. We are still on time, but barely. The Amazon continues to offer air, water, and beauty, yet cannot endure further delay.
Belém 2025 is a real opportunity to listen, decide, and change. May we not let it pass.
