Education at the Assumption is understood as an integral formation that shapes both the intellect and the heart of the person. Indeed, educating the intellect without the heart would be incomplete, and forming the heart without the intellect would be fragile. For this reason, Assumption pedagogy seeks a balance between inner depth, intellectual excellence, and engagement with the world. For Saint Marie Eugénie, our educational mission is to form individuals capable of thinking, loving, and acting according to their conscience.
Formation at the Assumption unites knowledge and love. Therefore, it calls for serious reflection and cultural openness in order to broaden minds and strengthen faith. This is aimed at developing strong convictions within each person, through the ability to think independently, so as to grow in freedom and clarity in the face of societal challenges. We do not seek to form narrow minds, but open ones, capable of understanding their time. Thus, our education aims to elevate minds so that they may grasp the truth and freely adhere to it. For education must prepare people for real life, for the responsibilities and duties each will assume in society.
Moreover, as Saint Marie Eugénie of Jesus believed, Christian education must touch the intellect, the heart, and the will alike. This is why the spirituality of the Assumption calls for an education that forms people who are attentive to others and sensitive to the most vulnerable. It nurtures interior life, spiritual awareness, and the relationship with God, in order to learn how to love, commit oneself, and serve.
