The Novitiate of the Central Africa Province, located in Kibomango, an urban-rural area on the outskirts of Kinshasa, DRC, aims to promote local development through productive initiatives. The community owns a pigsty inherited from the Kinzono farm, more than 150 km from the capital.
Currently, the project employs two people, helping to reduce unemployment in the area and providing fair wages. The local population is poor but highly committed, and the novitiate seeks to work with them to generate sustainable progress.
Following the “Soleil de Kibomango” project, focused on educational support, the community plans to renovate and expand the existing pigsty to establish a modern pig farming operation. This initiative will generate income, contribute to the province’s self-sufficiency, and provide food produced under strict hygiene standards.
The project not only provides employment and economic development but also fights local unemployment and improves food security. Pig farming will allow the population to access high-quality meat, fostering the local economy and strengthening the community as a whole.
Total cost: €12,000
