Province of Rwanda - Chad: Meeting of Sisters with 0 to 10 Years of Perpetual Vows in Kabuye

P eventFriday, 28 November 2025

From October 27 to 30, 2025, we had the great joy of gathering in Kabuye, we, the sisters with between 0 and 10 years of perpetual vows, to spend three days of fraternal friendship, prayer, and spiritual and vocational renewal. In our province, there are fourteen sisters concerned; twelve of us, either present in person or connected online, responded enthusiastically to this beautiful invitation.

We were united by one same desire: to catch our breath again in the joy of our vocation and to let ourselves be renewed by the Lord. From the very first moments, the joy of reunion could be felt, creating an atmosphere of trust and fraternity. We experienced the beauty of being together, listening to one another, and supporting each other in our paths of life and faith. These moments rekindled our sense of belonging to the Assumption family and our awareness of being, each one, a living stone in the building of our Assumption today.

The theme of the meeting, “Unity of Life,” nourished our reflections, exchanges, and prayers. We sought to deepen what it means to live united in Christ, harmonizing our prayer, community life, and apostolic mission. In a climate of attentive listening, we shared our impulses, doubts, and efforts to preserve this unity in a world that is often fragmented. This theme awakened in us a strong desire to let Christ be the center of everything and, as our Spirit invites us, to unite contemplation and action, striving to live all things in the same fidelity to Christ.

Immersed in diverse missions, these words of Saint Marie Eugenie beautifully summarize what we learned about keeping the spirit of prayer and a unified life even in the midst of our multiple missions: “...When we are in active life, in our occupations, let us strive for the spirit of prayer to animate our works. Let us not live in ourselves; let us not seek to know how far we have come, what others think of us, or the esteem they have for us. That is what removes the spirit of prayer.”[1] ... “The more you remain under the gaze of God amid the work and unavoidable distractions of life, the more easily you will recollect yourselves and rise toward God in prayer.”[2]

Carried by this dynamic of renewal, we reflected together on concrete proposals for our ongoing formation, in order to nurture our human, spiritual, and apostolic growth. We felt the need to intensify our formation gatherings to learn to keep our gaze fixed on Jesus Christ and on the extension of His Kingdom.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to our sister Césarie Marie, who organized and facilitated this meeting. At the end of these days of grace, we return with hearts full of thankfulness and hope, renewed in our vocation, more united, more confident, and more deeply rooted in Christ.
