Rwanda-Chad Province: Jubilee Joy

R eventThursday, 12 December 2024

Jubilate Deo! On Sunday, October 20, together with our sisters Odette Eugénie, Alphonsine Marie, and Christine Immaculée, we gathered in Kabuga, Kigali, to celebrate 25 years of religious life—a time of thanksgiving, gratitude, and shared joy. This special day coincided with World Mission Sunday.

The celebrant highlighted the connection between these events: “The Church is a mother, rich in grace. The Jubilee of our sisters and World Mission Sunday remind us of the role each of us has in the Church's mission according to our vocation. Our sisters' commitment is a testimony of life given to the Church's mission.”

Sister Odette Eugénie: “Celebrating this Jubilee means recalling the great blessings the Lord has given me, the challenges overcome, the achievements and trials that have shaped my life as an Assumption religious. I thank the Lord and all the people who have accompanied and supported me at every stage of my life. The life in the Assumption, combining active and contemplative life, is a force that pushes me further in my quest for God with great trust. I am happy to be an Assumption religious forever.”

Sister Alphonsine Marie: “For me, this Jubilee is a time to remember and celebrate God’s faithfulness, the life received, and the life given throughout these 25 years. The memory of the mission fulfilled here and elsewhere renews in me the hope and enthusiasm to continue with determination in my journey with Christ, in a renewed and wholehearted ‘yes.’ I firmly believe that when we place ourselves in His hands, He works in us and through us.”

Sister Christine Immaculée: “Celebrating 25 years of religious consecration means celebrating God's infinite mercy that has always accompanied me and will always be with me. I have great trust in God, who holds my hand. I am convinced that religious life is a life with God, and that by choosing Him and His Kingdom, and surrendering everything wholeheartedly, we lack nothing because God becomes everything for us. I thank the Congregation of the Assumption Sisters for guiding me on my vocational journey, and I am encouraged by my elder sisters, whose lives show me the beauty of a life fully given to God and His service.”

The festive liturgy, the smiles, the reunions, and the moments of togetherness made this celebration truly unforgettable. May this shared joy remain in our hearts and actions.

We give thanks to God for our sisters and the precious gift of consecrated life.
