My Experience as a Lay Member of the Assumption Family

My journey within the Assumption family began as a student, at a time when I was not yet fully aware of the depth of the charism that permeates every corner of the educational institution. Over time, and thanks to the closeness of the Religious of the Assumption and the educational community, I discovered that being part of Assumption is not merely belonging to an institution, but becoming part of a living legacy.

Today, as both an educator and a former student, I feel an even stronger commitment to keeping alive the heritage that was entrusted to us 186 years ago. To educate in the Assumptionist spirit means much more than teaching content: it is to accompany, to instill values, to build community, and to proclaim the Kingdom of God in everyday life.

As an Assumptionist, I do not merely hold on to memories, but I embrace a commitment: to revitalize and safeguard the charism that our founding sisters have passed down to us, so that we may continue to draw from its source.

I am deeply grateful for this journey that has transformed me and now allows me to be an instrument through which other young people may also discover the richness of this charism. As an Assumptionist, I understand that our mission does not end when we leave the classroom, but continues in every gesture of fraternity, justice, and hope.

Following the legacy of the Assumption is, for me, an act of fidelity and love—a concrete response to God’s call, which, through history and through the witness of so many brothers and sisters, invites me to walk with joy and commitment, as a pilgrim of hope.
