This was the theme of the Assumption student homes retreat this November.
For several years now, it has been a tradition for students from the Foyer of the Assumption Fathers and the Oblates of the Assumption in Lille to join the youth of the Assumption kot from the Religious of the Assumption at the seminary in Tournai for a 48-hour spiritual retreat. This year, they were joined by young people from London, although those from Brussels were unable to attend. A distinctive feature of this weekend is the active participation of the religious communities of fathers and sisters, creating a beautiful sense of fraternity.
This year’s program focused on the Eucharist as the pinnacle of our spiritual lives. The day began with an early morning Eucharistic celebration, followed by a mystagogical narrative. Participants then engaged in practical workshops, a theological reflection session, and three heartfelt testimonies that nourished their spirits. The religious communities took turns providing meals, ensuring both body and soul were well cared for.
Of course, no visit to Tournai is complete without exploring the charming town. This year’s guide, well-versed in the classics, led the group through the main monuments... and the city’s most iconic cafés.
An enriching experience that deepened both faith and fraternity. By: Sr. Anne Thielen
